We has a new blue post about Death Knights and new classes in the upcoming expansion by Nethaera:
Here’s the skinny, the lowdown, the 411 etc on the death knight choice.
First off, it fits in with Northrend extremely well for obvious reasons.
Second off, many people tend to have this strange belief that adding a new class is simple, easy as pie, and a cakewalk all on a Sunday afternoon, but it’s not. There is a lot of work that goes into it and many considerations for how it will work, how it will work with other classes, how the lore ties in, how quests and npcs also can tie in to this new class, itemization, and a whole lot more. It takes a lot of forethought, testing, and care to add something this major to the game and for each new class that is added to the game, come the concerns about not maintaining the uniqueness of each class that already exists.
I’m not saying that the possibility of more classes being added in the future isn’t a possibility. We had many ideas of what class we’d add in for Wrath of the Lich King prior to settling on the death knight. There are many more possibilities for classes we’d consider in the future as well, but we aren’t going to rush to add them in and risk creating a situation where other classes lose their uniqueness and their value within the game.

It’s been 2 months now since we’re trying with my guild to get our bear mounts from the Zul’aman timed event. It seems that we were not following the best strategy. I have downloaded a video from Elitist Jerks and it has many suggestions about the raid setup, the killing order of the bosses, some tips with the trash mobs etc.
ZA Timed Event by Elitist Jerks
Raid Setup
Group 1
Protection Warrior
Prot/Fury Warrior (with tank gear when 2 tanks are needed)
Enhancement Shaman
Rogue
BM Hunter
Group 2
Restoration Shaman
Restoration Druid
Holy Paladin (with tank gear when AoE tanking is needed)
Shadow Priest
Warlock
Killing Order
Akil’zon - Nalorakk - Jan’alai - Halazzi
Tips
Akil’zon Trash: 2 packs pulls with the Paladin AoE tanking the birds. Move as soon as possible to the Mini boss to stop spawns.
Akil’zon: Move to the tank’s position before the Storm event.
Nalorakk Trash: Tank bear riders away from each other as their aura stacks.
Nalorakk: The Resto shammy can dps during the normal form of Nalorakk as the tank doesn’t get high damage.
Jan’alai Trash: Stun/Roots Scouts. Interrupt flamecaster’s spells. 1 pack and 1 patrol can be avoided.
Jan’alai: The eagles must be tanked by the Holy paladin in tank/fire resistance gear. Frost trap and earthbind totem are useful.
Halazzi Trash: Avoid the pack in the left and the first patrol. Paladin aoe tanks the lions. Don’t forget to Purge/Arcane Shot/Offensive Dispell mind controls
Halazzi: Quick Dispells and destroy the totems asap.

Finally we had the US first kill of Kil’jaeden by an Alliance guild, Deus Vox. Traneth tried to excuse his guild for being a bit late:
The Truth is we raided 6-8 hours a night over 5 nights to kill him, taking saturday off. Sk-Gaming killed it in 45 hours in 4 days. Alot of our members are older have full time jobs/responsibilities.
I believe we have one of the best 25 man groups out there. This just proves it.
I’d also like to mention that the top Euro guilds are also sponsored. Unfortunately, there is no such thing in the U.S. They had a “bonus” incentive for getting the worlds first for those guilds from there sponsors.

Paladins x 2
Priests x 4
Rogues x 3

Gaeowyn and his party decided to try to beat Gruul with only 5 people. Furthermore instead of a normal tank (Paladin/Warrior/Druid) they used a rogue with as much avoidance as possible. His stats are impressive!
76.31% dodge
12.16% parry
14.16% to be missed
= 102.63% = avoidance from physical attacks!
His gear isn’t that great, he wears many blues as long as he gains many points in agility standing at 950 agility unbuffed.
Gaeowyn was buffed with Blessing of Kings, Improved Grace of Air, Grilled Mudfish, Scroll of Agility V, Elixir of Major Agility, Improved Mark of the Wild, Night Elves Racial (+1% dodge). Also insect swarm and scorpid sting was applied on Gruul.
His party was a
Holy Paladin with t6 gear (Morlune)
Enhancement Shaman with t6 equal gear (Teknique)
Beast Mastery Hunter (Felibarr) (I guess with t6 equal gear, he’s wearing his pvp now)
Balance Druid with t6 gear (Tarranus)

Six days were only needed for the european guild SK-Gaming to beat Kil’jaeden, the 6th boss of Sunwell Plateau. “Game over” for SK-Gaming till the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
Message from Guild Masters of SK
First of all we would like to say a huge thanks to the guild for all the work that has been put in not only now but the during the build up to Sunwell in general. It’s been an intense 4 days of raiding but now it’s time to return to normal working life for the next few months and relax
As for Kil’Jaeden: It’s a really intense fight, the most technically demanding fight in terms of personal performance and survivability. M’uru was all about the strategy and this one was all about absolute perfection in terms of execution. There are however a few random elements that make the fight frustrating at times. All in all definitely the hardest boss ever made and an impressive final boss.
Blizzard has finally done a good job on a TBC instance with Sunwell. The difficulty level compared to BT is not even comparable it’s soo much harder. In BT you could have 5 bad players and still carry them no problem, Sunwell requries consistent perfection. We are soo happy that they have finally delivered a non cockblocked but very hard instance!.
As for WOTLK we are going to go just as hard, probably recruit more players to prepare and hopefully we will be playing the Beta soon. Now we’ve proved we are the best we have no intention of giving up that mantle without a fight!

I’m still missing a title with my paladin. I’m waiting for the Duelist one once the season 4 starts. Yesterday we tried for first time a raid for Magtheridon’s Lair and on the 4th try, we managed to kill him. Unfortunately i haven’t done the prequest for the Tempest Keep key which also provide the title Champion of the Naruu. This is a very long chain quest starting at Shadowmoon Valley.
The Hand of Gul’Dan
Enraged Spirits of Fire and Earth
Enraged Spirits of Water
Enraged Spirits of Air

Magtheridon is a quick raid encounter, similar to that of Onyxia’s Lair. It is the raid wing of the Hellfire Citadel dungeons.
Abilities
- Quake - knockback that hits every player every second for 7 seconds. The first cast occurs 40 seconds after Magtheridon activates.
- Blast Nova - 2,500 damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds to every player in the lair. The first cast occurs 1 minute after Magtheridon activates, on a 60-second cool down. Use the Manticron Cubes to prevent him from casting it.
- Cleave - Standard cleave, can hit for 8k+ on tank.
Strategy
- Phase 1
The fight starts when someone attack one of the Hellfire Channelers standing on the cubes. You need 5 tanks for this fight, but if your raid is well geared, 4 tanks is enough as long as you have a hunter for misdirection. The Hellfire Channelers must be tanked immediately when the fight starts. This phase lasts only 2 minutes. They have 2 abilities. Dark Mending (healing) and Shadow Bolt Valley (AoE shadow bolts). Both are interruptable. Curse of Tongues make it easier to interrupt their spells. Channelers summon Infernals, so our Warlocks must banish/fear them. Paladins can also help with Turn Evil. When a channeler dies, the rest channelers are buffed with Soul Transfer make them faster and stronger. It is wise to choose well geared tanks on the last 2 channelers. After 2 minutes Magtheridon is free and your Main Tank must aggro him. If you are a ZA/T5 gear guild, 4 channelers should be down in the same time, Magtheridon gets unbanished. Opening Trinkets and Heroism will help to achieve it easier.
- Phase 2
You must arrange 2 teams of 5 ppl to click on the Manticron Cubes when Blast Nova is casted. Deadly boss mod and communicating in Ventrilo/Voice chat will help. If the clicker team isn’t fast enough it will cause a wipe. When someone from the clicker team dies, he must be replaced asap. Blast Nova cool down is 1 minute. When Magtheridon is at 33-32% of his life, stop dps and wait for the Blast Nova effect to end. Once it ends, heal the whole raid to top and start doing damage again.
- Phase 3
Phase 3 starts when Magtheridon’s life is at 30%. He shatters the roof and causing the roof to crash down on the entire raid. This deals 5250-6750 physical damage to every member of the raid. Use healthstones and healing potions to make healer’s life easier. Also, the ceiling occasionally caves in (like Gruul’s ability) causing damage in a 8yard range. It is avoidable, just move quick.

Some more matchups for the Holy Paladin/SLSL Warlock combo in 2v2 bracket. Part 1 is available here.
vs Shaman/Warrior
There are not much you can do vs this combo. You can’t play the outlast tactic with them. Warrior with windfury & tremor totem, heroism and offensive dispells is a very hard counter for any Warlock team. Make a macro for totem killing by your pet.
/petattack [target=Healing Stream Totem]
/petattack [target=Windfury Totem]
/petattack [target=Mana]
/petattack [target=Tremor Totem]
/petattack [target=Grounding Totem]
Full dot the warrior, Immolate/Searing Pain Spam and well timed CC chain on Shaman and you have some luck. Fear, Spell Lock, Death Coil and Hammer of Justice are your friends. The paladin must help with the dps and use Blessing Of Protection offensively on the warlock to finish the warrior.
vs Druid/Hunter
It’s doable, but most fights will last very long. The warlock must DOT all 3 targets. The paladin should kite the hunter as much as possible, avoiding Aimed shot and Viper Stings. Your goal is to kill the hunter’s pet and don’t let him resummon one by draining his mana and applying Curse of Tongues on him. Once pet’s life is at 50%, the warlock should fear/spell lock the druid, the paladin bring it below a pillar and kill it. Nightelves Druids and Hunters will do the job much more difficult. 2 tips for the paladin: judgement of wisdom on pet, healing with low ranks when you’re out of mana will help.
vs Mage/Rogue
Once you realize that you’re facing Mage/Rogue, the paladin casts Blessing Of Sacrifice on the Warlock, so the paladin will avoid most of the cc mage/rogue can do. Use pet’s devour to dispell sheeps of you and your paladin and use Spell Lock on mage when someone is pretty low on health. The problem with this combo comes when they go for the Paladin and they are undead. The paladin should kite them as much as possible avoiding shatter combos, Vial of the Sunwell will help a lot as second healthstone, Hammer of Justice on rogue when mage’s CS is on cooldown. When it’s time to bubble, heal both to top, and if you have time pressure the mage with Judgement of Rightneousness and Concecration to make him play a little more defensively.
