Arena Gems

In the 2.4.3 patch, the gems that can be bought with Honor Points are going to be available for arena points too.

Gleaming Ornate Dawnstone
Bold Ornate Ruby
Inscribed Ornate Topaz
Potent Ornate Topaz
Runed Ornate Ruby
Smooth Ornate Dawnstone

Gems Arena Points

I still don’t get it why there is no healing gems that can be bought with this way. Only Holy Paladins can benefit from the Gleaming Ornate Dawnstone.

Patch Notes 2.4.3

General

  • Dispel effects will no longer attempt to remove effects that have 100% dispel resistance.
  • Parry Rating, Defense Rating, and Block Rating: Low-level players will now convert these ratings into their corresponding defensive stats at the same rate as level 34 players.
  • Haris Pilton has launched a new line of bags and jewelry. Check her out in the World’s End Tavern!
  • Mounts at 30?! Yes, it’s true: Apprentice Riding and mounts are now available at level 30. Training costs 35 gold.
  • Blood Elf flightmasters outside of Silvermoon City and Tranquillien have traded in their bats for glorious fire-breathing dragonhawks.
  • Alcohol cooldowns have been rolled into Drinks: All 10-second cooldowns have been removed and replaced with the 1-second Drink cooldown.
  • Numerous flying non-combat pets have had their flight height modified to no longer skim along the ground: captured firefly, dragonhawk hatchlings, moths, owls, parrots, phoenix hatchling, spirit of summer, sprite darter, and tiny sporebat.
  • Nether Ray Fry (a non-combat pet) is now available from the Skyguard Quartermaster. This requires an Exalted reputation with Sha’tari Skyguard.
  • Equipping an item will now cancel any spell cast currently in progress.
  • Placing an item in your bank will now cancel any spell cast currently in progress if the spell was cast by that item.
  • You can no longer move backwards to stop racing rams.
  • When a stun wears off, the creature that was stunned will prefer the last target with the highest threat, versus the current target.

Get ready for season 4 “week”

As the season 4 arrives in 2 weeks, it’s time to start stockpilling materials for your enchants and gems you’ll need with your new gear. Most players have already capped their arena points, and honor points so expect every player in World of Warcraft to buy 4-5 items in one day and most of them will need a gem or an enchant! Jewelcrafters, enchanters, tailors, leatherworkers and even engineers will have a lot of work to do for the first week at least. Materials and services are expected to get a 50% increace minimum (Remember what happened when the badge vendor came out on your server).

Jewelcrafting

Do as many heroics as possible in order to get badge of justice! Many players are going to socket their gear with epic gems, as they won’t find an update for at least 4 months. Red gems, yellow gems and orange gems will have special demand as most pvp gear has these colors in sockets.

Being exalted with Shattered Sun Offensive will give u the opportunity to cut gems as a service. You can easily charge 20g per cut for epic gems and 10g per cut for blue ones. 2 clicks for 20g sounds awesome!

Enchanting

Gather Large Prismatic Shards and run Heroic Magister’s Terrace for an extra recipe that will boost your earnings during that week. Furthermore, doing heroics in daily basis, disenchanting blue items from Jewelcrafting and Tailoring are my advices for enchanters.

Boar’s Speed, Major resilience, Healing and Spell Damage enchanters will have a lot of work to do! Also as Brutal gladiator’s gloves don’t require personal rating to get them, try to learn Enchant Gloves formulas.
+15 Spell Hit Rating, +15 Agility, +35 Bonus Healing, +20 Spell Damage will be very popular these days.

Leatherworking/Tailoring/Engineering

These profs are offering “minor” enchants only used for legs and ranged weapons. The demand won’t be that high, but it  highly recommended to save cloths/leathers/ores and primal nethers for that week!

Dreamstate Druid/Rogue 2v2

This a very popular combo in 2v2 brackets, and can achieve high team & personal ratings. Top team in season 3 is I warned you dodging sux with 2675 team rating at Misery Battlegroup (EU). This is the part 1 of the guide, some matchups you’ll find bellow:

vs Paladin/Warrior

Splitting Paladin and Warrior is the key to win this team. The rogue goes on the Paladin stunlocking him as much as possible and interrupting his heals. The druid has to chase the warrior and bring him on the opposite side of the map, far enough from the paladin. Then he must start doing dmg to him. A nice chain of Cyclone/Starfire/moonfire/Insect swarm and Entangle Roots/Starfire/Moonfire/Insect swarm will do the job. Then the paladin has to heal 2 targets and he’s not good at it. When bubble is on cd or Well timed cyclones on warrioris when the pally bubbles, it’s a win.

vs Mage/Rogue

This is a hard matchup. This match mostly depends on your enemies’ experience against your team. Nevertheless you should have equal chances against this team at least.

You start with a Sap on the Rogue (if your Rogue is Human) and then try to stick to the Mage. The important thing against this combination is that the Mage doesn’t get any Sheeps off. If your Rogue gets one sheep on him and he has already used his Insignia the Mage/Rogue team will switch on your Druid and will kill him.

You can counter their tactic with an extremely offensive one of your own. When their Rogue is Sapped and your Rogue is on the Mage your Druid should start damaging the Mage as well. Your Druid should use Moon Fire/Insect Swarm/Wrath/Wrath combinations. When the Sap is almost over, your Druid should Faerie Fire the Rogue so that he can’t Vanish immediately. If he does and he has no Cloak of Shadows left he will be vulnerable to more CC. If you put out lots of pressure at the beginning (your Druid needs to know when to stop casting, in order not to get a 8 second Counter Spell because in which 8 seconds he/his mate would die). The Mage should normally use his Block very early. At this time Vanish and prepare to rush down the mage the second time. If your Rogue can’t vanish that’s not a problem either. One rogue alone can’t do much to you/your Rogue.

vs Druid/Warrior

Generally you try to find the Druid, before the Shadow Sight buff pops. If you can’t find their Druid (which shouldn’t happen when playing with a Human Rogue) you must start on the Warrior. The Rogue starts with a sap on the Warrior, the Druid start with a Starfire/Moonfire/Insect Swarm combo along with your Rogue’s opening Cheap Shot. The Warrior should drop fast, so that their Druid needs to pop out to heal. The key here is to Cyclone the Warrior when he gets the first HoT of the opponent druid, and then switch to him. Through the whole fight you should try to keep the Warrior crowd controlled with Cyclone/Roots nearly all the time, while assisting your Rogue with dps. If your Rogue can stay on the Druid, their druid will always be out of mana before you (you’re a dreamstate remember?). If they do then you should win.

Arena season 4 on 24-25th of June

We have super hot news today. Eyonix, Blizzard poster, announced that season 4 starts at 24th of June (25th of June for European players):

We’re currently planning to end the third Arena season and begin Arena Season 4 on June 24, 2008. This exciting Arena season will introduce the Brutal Gladiator set, and will also allow players to purchase Arena Season 2 items using the honor system. Please note that we will be resetting all Arena team and personal ratings. Players will still retain their Arena points and teams with this reset. The team and personal rating will simply be reset to the default 1500, allowing all teams to once again compete for top honors with a fresh start.

Also, with the end of the third season, players on the top teams from each battlegroup will receive their end-of-season rewards. These include Arena-specific titles that they can display proudly until the end of the new season, and, for the best of the best, an Armored Nether Drake. Please also be aware that with the end of the current season, all previous end-of-season titles will be removed.

Some notes:

Season 1 is not completely out of game, as the gear will still be available with t4 token from Karazhan/Gruul/Magtheridon instances.

What will happen with pvp backs? Is there a new back set coming out, purchasable with Badge of Justice?

Personal and Team Ratings are reset to 1500.

Righteous Defense Macro

Righteous DefenceAs you might know, the righteous defence ability of Tankadins works a bit different with the taunt/growl ability of Warriors and Feral Dudus. A macro for it, is highly recommended!

#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][target=targettarget,help,nodead] Righteous Defense;

If you click the button of the above macro, the paladin casts Righteous Defence to the mouseover friendly target or the targeted friendly target or finally to the target of your unfriendly target.

A simpler and most useful version of the above macro is the following:

#showtooltip
/cast [help,nodead][target=targettarget,help,nodead] Righteous Defense;

Why arena season 4 is delayed

The seasons match PvE progression.

The final door in Sunwell Plateau just opened up on May 20th. We want that gear to begin circulating a bit before the next season starts. That’s how every season works, we wait until a reasonable number of people are able to grab gear from the highest raid before kicking off a season.

How much and when, we’re not saying yet.

There was a rumor that the release date will be the 17th of June but it was turned down by Blizzard stuff. They still insist that there will be a 2 week notice before the arena season 4 comes out. I was a bit late with my personal ratings but I think i ‘ll manage to get  the vengeful retri gear for my paladin in time and of course with 5k capped points.

Warcraft Millionaire – The Perfect Gold Guide?

There’s been a lot of talk lately about a new comer to what many of us might call an overcrowded gold guide market – that of Warcraft Millionaire.

I’ve read a lot about Brad, the author’s, claims and was quite skeptical at first that anyone could have made 1 million gold in a game that has a gold cap of 214,748 gold, 36 silver, 48 copper. It just didn’t seem possible and so I, like many, wrote it off at first as creative boasting by another guide writer. Don’t make the same mistake I did though!

This guide is the real deal. Not only does Brad provide video proof of his claims on his website (watch the video here), he provides one of the most comprehensive gold guides I’ve seen yet. Not only do you get a half dozen different guides; a 1-60 guide, an Outland guide, a grinding guide, a Daily Quest guide, an Auction House guide, and a Limited Items compendium; he writes it in a way that is easy to understand reference – an issue I’ve heard time and again with other gold guides on the market.

Once you crack into the beginner’s guide and start reading the tips and tricks that Brad has to offer, you start to see just why he was able to become the game’s first millionaire. It’s not just a laundry list of grinding locations (though he does provide these), it’s a complete step by step process that walks you through how to utilize the grinding locations and gold making methods to the best possible consequences.

Many times, a gold guide just tosses ideas at you and expects you to figure them out for yourself. They give you a zone and a mob and say “kill this”. Brad, starts with the big picture and slowly narrows in on what you need to know about gold making in the game.

One of my favorite parts of this program though is his Auction House guide. This is by far one of the best Auction House descriptions I have yet read. He deftly weaves descriptions of real world economic concepts into how the game operates and how you can actually play the Auction House like the stock market for exponentially increasing returns. The rest of the guide program provides you with plenty of information about what items you should be looking for and how much money you can expect to make.

With the right approach to the Auction House, you can be sure that you will start making gold just like Brad. While I would have liked to see a bit more intense focus on Outland and a few more grinding locations that don’t require a flying mount, I cannot fault Brad for this one minor issue – the rest of the guide is so well situated (and illustrated) that I can fully believe that he was able to reach his gold level without spending a dime of his own real world money.

Leotheras the Blind

LeotherasHe’s the 3rd boss in Serpentshrine Cavern with 3,700,000 hit points and 221 gold wealth.

Abilities

Human Form

  • Whirlwind: Leotheras will spin around the room in a fashion similar to the Battleguard Sartura encounter in Ahn’Qiraj. This ability deals direct damage and leaves a bleed dot. Leotheras resets all aggro after the whirlwind.

Demon Form

  • Insidious Whisper: Debuff that summons an Inner Demon from up to five raid members. Each Inner Demon can be attacked only by the person it spawned from. If you do not kill your Inner Demon before Leotheras gets back into humanoid form you will become Mind Controlled for 10 minutes and can’t get out of it unless killed. Inner Demons take increased damage from arcane, nature, and holy spells.
  • Chaos Blast: Chaos Blast is Leotheras’ only form of attacking while in demon form. It is a single target nuke that deals AoE damage around the target. Chaos Blast also leaves a stacking debuff that increases fire damage taken.
