Priest/Rogue part 1

The well-known Gladiator discipline priest, Mickster at ArenaJunkies.com wrote a very useful guide for his 2v2 combo. Bellow you’ll find information vs most setups in the 2v2 bracket.

vs Druid/Hunter

Personally, I feel this setup is the hardest to beat. A hunter with all his CC combined with the Druid CC will frustrate your Rogue beyond belief, Viper Sting with a pet constantly hitting you will run you OOM fast. To beat this setup you need to maximize your Mana, there is no point in LOSing the Hunter while you have Viper on you, so you might as well make them blow their CCs on you so you can Mana Burn the Hunter (which is what you will be doing).

As soon as the fight starts have your Rogue get on the Hunter and try to stun him (Flare will probably expose the Rogue), get Poisons on the Hunter as fast as you can and have your Priest mount up and wait until the Druid comes out to Fear him, as soon as that Hunter gets the first Viper Sting on you, sit next to him and spam Mana Burn, you want him out of Mana as fast as possible, you will probably get Bashed, Rooted, Scatter Shotted, Silence Shot, but you need to get that Hunter out of Mana. If you do manage to get the Hunter out of Mana have your Rogue focus him. The Priest should now get behind a pillar, use your Shadowfiend on the Hunter or the Hunter’s Pet and put on your MP5 Wand/Weapon and conserve Mana. If you see a good opportunity to kill the pet, do so immediately, that does not mean have your Rogue run across the map and make it look obvious, come into LOS, Fear the Druid and then burst him down with Shadow Word: Death/Mind Blast/Smite/Shadow Word: Pain and whatever else you may have in your arsenal. Once that pet is dead your life is much easier, Renew the Rogue and run out of LOS. If the Druid is always keeping you in combat that is ok, only come out to dispel the Ice Trap on the Rogue (don’t get caught behind a pillar with it, call out if you see them try to do this).

This is a very tough fight, you just need to outlast or get a nice burst on the Hunter with a Fear/Blind and hopefully he dies, if not you have to try to kill the pet, if your Priest is out of Mana and the situation is looking bad you might as well have your Rogue be on the pet as a last desperate attempt to win.

vs Druid/Rogue

This is an endurance match. The Druid will Abolish Poison his Rogue and either CC you and go for your Rogue or go after you (most cases they have gone after me), if they go for you (Priest). You must keep Crippling on the Rogue and LOS as best as you can and drink whenever possible. Be aggressive on the Druid and try to Fear him along with the Rogue at the same time (if possible), Mana Burn the Druid whenever you can and keep him running away from you. If they go for your Rogue just be sure to keep HoTs on him and never let him get too low, be aggressive on the Druid and drink whenever while trying not to let him drink though. This can go either way and once again depends on your coordination compared to theirs.

vs Druid/Warlock

This fight can be very tough or easy, depending on the quality of the CC that the Druid\Warlock team can put out. I recommend having 3 weapons, the reason for this is to have Wounding on your Main Hand, Crippling on your Off Hand and Mind Numbing on your 2nd Off Hand so all 3 Poisons are up. Save your Fear for when the Druid Bashes or Cyclones the Rogue so the Lock doesn’t get too far, or Fear the Druid when he is healing and try to sneak in some Mana Burns while he’s in caster(you will probably have Tongues on you and get Silenced but the Rogue has a while to do damage to the Warlock). Spam Dispel the Warlock of his Fel Armor, call out Fears you cannot Interrupt, and keep Mending Bouncing between you and your Rogue.

If the Druid and Warlock have insane CC, chances are you will lose (unless you are Shadowstep and even then its still hard). Just remember to be aggressive on the Druid, Fear him whenever possible, Dispel the Rogue and keep a Renew on him and conserve your Mana!. If you see that the pet is low, Fear the Druid and then have your Rogue switch to the pet, spam Dispel on the Rogue to get rid of any Fears that might come and if you manage to kill the pet spam Dispel on the Warlock so you can have a chance at dispelling his Fel Domination.

vs Druid/Warrior

This is probably one of the toughest combos for Priest/Rogue. It is also currently one of the more popular setups. A good thing to do is for the Rogue to put Wounding on his Off Hand so he can spam it back up with Shiv (It doesn’t really matter if Warrior has Crippling. Besides, it will be applied eventually and you want the Warrior to run behind pillars faster so you can LOS). If the Druid spams dispels, good, he is wasting more Mana and risks opening himself up to Mana Burns. When the game starts, immediately use Shadow Word: Death\Mindblast\Smite(if you can) on the Warrior while he is stunned. You want that Druid to come out of stealth immediately. Let the Warrior Intercept you and bring him as far away as possible from the starting point.

When the Druid comes out be aggressive on him, Mana Burn him whenever he is in caster form, time stuns on the Warrior so your Priest can run freely to try and Fear him (good Druids will avoid Fear but at least you can make them run away or corner them). Drink whenever possible, LOS the Warrior as best as you can and always keep a Renew on your Rogue to heal Whirlwinds and Deep Wounds and possible times when the Warrior may switch DPS to him. Dispel HoTs whenever you think it is good to do so. For example, the Druid is Feared or Blinded and the Warrior has HoTs on, get rid of them ASAP and do as much damage as you can to him, also Dispel Abolish Poison and Regrowth\Rejuvenation, Lifebloom if it’s ok to do so. If the Warrior puts on his Shield, drink up, chances are the Warrior is shielding because he is low on health so the Druid is healing him in combat, if the Warrior is on your Priest using a Shield and is healed up to full and is just buying time for the Druid to drink you must interrupt the Druid from doing this, which is why you always stay as close as possible and use Rank 1 Dots on him. Always use Mindblast on the Warrior whenever he is stunned, as well as a Shadow Word: Death.

Key things to remember: Be aggressive on the Druid, Fear\Mana Burn a lot, avoid the Warrior while he isn’t stunned and when he is move back in, bring the Warrior out of LOS of the Druid to bring him to you, drink whenever possible. If you think switching to the Druid will kill him, do so, but be aware of the Warrior Hamstringing\Piercing Howl\Fearing your Rogue, a good Warrior will Intervene the Druid and help CC the Rogue so the Druid can run away, so I don’t recommend focusing the Druid. This is a really tough fight, do not get mad if you lose, try different specs if you have to as well.
